Fics like the way life goes

Jay’s gaze falls back to the photograph on the mantel, the one of him and Evan lost in the moment, lost in the music. Lost in each other’s eyes, more than anything. Facing one another, sights secured on each other. The tension between them is like a string; a thin line that connects them, and Jay wonders what that string might look like now; if it’s even still in one piece, if it’s worn and weathered. Maybe it’s frayed at the edges, hanging on by a single thread, stretched with time and distance. Or maybe, it’s still there, invisible but intact, waiting for one of them to pull. Wherein Jay and Evan are ex-bandmates; only until Evan, for some unknown reason, asks Jay to help with his second solo album, and hell breaks loose. Again.
