Fics like the masks we hide behind

Peter Parker has, in a sense, let himself be seen as anxious, nerdy, quiet. He refused to be seen as an egotistical genius, as though he’s better than others – because he’s not, and he knows it. Ever since middle school, he’s put on a mask and let himself be seen how he wants to be seen. Tony, after taking him under his wing and mentoring him, started seeing Peter’s true confidence, and eventually, realised that Peter wasn’t as shy as he portrayed himself to be.
