Fics like Chiaroscuro

“Hey sensei,” The voice is distant, small. Familiar? “I hope resting really is what you need. I don’t know what to do now. The others want to stay, but I’m…” His eyes crack open to a blurry mess of a world. Everything swims, and the pain in his head seems to have narrowed, shooting through his eye but deep and back and fuck it hurts to think. Overwhelming nausea follows. That small voice dissolves into the quiet, choking hiccups of someone trying to hide their tears. Her hair is bright, bubble gum pink. It hurts to look at. She looks real. - His name is Hatake Kakashi. He is a jounin of Konahagakure no Sato. He doesn’t feel like that’s true. Something is very wrong with him. He is thirty-five years old, a university student for the second time, hardly attached to his country, let alone his town, and he was a teenager when he last properly watched Naruto. Waking up as the traumatised goofy teacher guy must be some kind of joke.
