Fics like affection

Rumi isn’t stupid—she knows her patterns can’t be contagious. That’s not how they work. She’s started to pull away, keeping her distance. She might not be contagious, but what if there are other adverse effects? Maybe they’ll live shorter lives, or they’ll get sick, or they’ll somehow realise what she is, and then... Rumi won’t touch them, and they won’t get hurt. They won’t end up sick. Nothing bad will happen to them because of her. Rumi knows that she’d never be able to live with herself if she decided to be selfish, especially not with something like this. Mira and Zoey are both far more important than a few hugs every now and then. It isn’t even like she's ever been that touchy, so she’s sure none of them will even notice. She’ll keep her distance, enough to be safe, not enough to make it obvious, and all three of them will be okay. And then, whenever they seal the honmoon, Rumi can hug them as much as she’d like, or brush by them without feeling sick, or reach out without her heart pounding. (or, five times rumi wanted to reach out, and the one time she did)
