Fics like Almost Missed You

What if they both auditioned but never got the Heartstopper gig? Three years later, Kit’s at the University of York, juggling Film & Media and reluctantly playing basketball after a flatmate bullied him into it. When Kit and his friend Via hold auditions for their second-year project, a blue-eyed Drama student walks in. Will he get the part? Will they even get along? And if they do… what then? Almost doesn’t count. But what happens when almost turns into something neither of them saw coming? A/N update in 2026 March: While this story was written in 2025, I’ve since watched the beautiful real life love story between the new Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and Argentinian field hockey player Nicolás Keenan unfold. Seeing an openly gay political leader and a bisexual athlete together so publicly and confidently has felt quite historic. If you haven’t read about them, I highly recommend looking them up. It’s lovely to see the world catching up.
