Fics like Pour Out Your Heart Like Water

For twenty-five years, Billy Millais has hunted Nemo – the friend who betrayed him, the ghost he could never outrun. He finally corners him in the snow, revolver in hand, ready to end it. But a single heartbeat of hesitation is all it takes for the Company to make their judgment instead. Shot, bleeding, and abandoned by the only masters he ever served, Billy should have died there. Nemo, however, refuses to let their reunion end in blood on the snow. “Billy!” Nemo’s voice was suddenly there, close enough that the syllables struck warm against his ear, steeped in terror. For half a second, Billy almost felt the abhorrent pull of amusement – how fitting, that the man should finally sound afraid. Or: Billy Millais survives a quarter-century of obsession, only to be shot by the Company while holding Nemo at gunpoint.
