Fics like The Weaver and The Mechanist

The Doctor wasn’t the only Time Lord to turn away from the untempered schism. In this world, he also wasn’t the only one to survive the war. The Weaver and The Mechanist were never meant to survive the Time War. They fled—not for themselves, but for their unborn child who was more precious to them than their careers. On Gallifrey, they were misfits: a brilliant geneticist and regeneration healer and a maker of impossible weapons and machines, too brilliant to silence, too odd to even attempt to control. And so they were tolerated, for the innovations they brought to society were too brilliant to ignore. On a distant blue world, they hid. Two hearts locked away beneath human skin. A daughter’s true nature sealed in the first hours of her life. For nineteen quiet years, the tapestry of their disguise held—until the day Rose Tyler met a man called the Doctor, and the threads began to unravel.
