Fics like Restoration

“You don’t erase damage,” Verso said; “you learn to work with it. Fill the cracks gently. Help it hold together again.” //// Six months after the explosion at the lab, Gustave returns to work with an arm gone and a brain still far from healed. The university told him to take more time. His friends tried to pull him back into the world, but he’s learned how to turn them all away. On his first day back, he meets Verso Dessendre; quiet, steady, with scars of his own and a beautiful streak of silver in his hair. A man who restores paintings for a living, yet struggles to restore himself. As they grow closer, Gustave begins to wonder if Verso might be right. Maybe some damage isn’t the end, but the start of something worth holding together.
