Fics like The Lines We Cross

As one of the City’s best loved superheroes, Beacon has kept its citizens safe for the last seventeen years. But age catches up with everyone and it becomes clear that he would have to hang up the cape sooner rather than later. Now, on the eve of his reluctant retirement, Marcus hands off his mantle to Aiden Vega—a rising star with solar-charged powers, the perfect public image, and eyes that see far too much. He’s everything the Hero Authority wants in the next generation. But when a psychic threat from Marcus’s past resurfaces on his last mission, Marcus gets injured in the ensuing fight and his life is saved by none other than Aiden. All Marcus wants to do now is heal from his injuries and retire quietly, but Aiden won’t allow either of those things to happen. Aiden’s determined to blur the lines of their mentor and partner relationship into something far more intimate, but Marcus isn’t so sure.
