Fics like Balance

“My name is Link,” he said, his voice low. “What’s your name?” When he said his name, something shifted in her chest, a strange recognition, as if she had been mispronouncing a word her whole life and had only now heard it spoken correctly. She wanted to know what her own name would sound like in his mouth. She took a long, shaky breath, forcing it out in a slow, measured stream. The single word that followed was surprisingly steady. “Zelda.” *** A modern Zelda lands mysteriously in Hyrule and meets the knight, Link. He is assigned to protect her while they are tasked to travel Hyrule to discover why, and how, she ended up there in the first place. A reimagining of BOTW with OOT elements. Update: September 2026 I’m in the process of remastering this story. I’m not changing the context or character arcs, but I am however going in to edit, tighten and fix a lot of things I’ve since grown from as an author. If you are new or just doing a reread, welcome, you’re getting the best version of this story. Remastered chapters 1-10. Next 5, early October
