Captain Gideon and the Excalibur uncover a lost station in deep space—Relay D-9 Lyra—reactivated with corrupted Shadow code and neural echoes. Technomage Galen and Dureena investigate, finding it’s not a relay but a seed vault preserving artificial minds. Among the data is a chilling message: “She watches. She remembers. She waits.” As Galen deciphers ancient glyphs in the forgotten tongue of Soom—his destroyed homeworld—he’s haunted by memories of Regalia, a warrior-mystic tied to his past and the deeper war. Meanwhile, PsiCop Bester and the secretive Technomage Circle monitor Galen’s unstable path, seeing in him both threat and prophecy. With Dureena as his anchor, Galen confronts truths hidden in forgotten data and fractured memory. But an even older force than the Shadows stirs—watching from beyond known space. In the end, devotion may inspire bravery, but bravery leads to sacrifice—and sacrifice demands its price.
