Fics like A Wound for Generations

In one universe, Shadow, grief-stricken from his only friend's death in 1974, was put into stasis for fifty years, only to be released as a tool for vengeance by a similarly stricken man. But, in another, he escapes from Oklahoma to Green Hills, Montana. Thirty-nine years, he hides alone in the forest, slowly pulling the pieces of his life back together in complete isolation. Until, one night, as he scavenges in the total darkness, a golden ring opens up a portal and a small, blue hedgehog appears, screaming for a mysterious someone.
