Fics like i once was blind but now i see

At school, they were taught that Guides were gentle. Nurturing. Made to soothe their Sentinels, to ground them, to serve. They weren’t fighters. They weren’t strong. They posed no threat. The League taught Jason the truth. Few things in the world were more dangerous—or more terrifying—than a Guide. Because a true Empath didn’t need to lift a weapon to destroy you. They only had to feel you—deep enough, long enough—and they could take you apart from the inside out. Or: Having grown up on the streets, Jason thought he already understood the depths of human suffering. But awakening as a Guide shattered that illusion—because knowing pain was one thing. Feeling it, in all its raw, unfiltered truth from everyone around him, was something else entirely.
