“But you aren’t an omega." “I wasn’t before I went to sleep,” Vessel agrees. “But I think I might be, now.” II runs his hand through his cropped hair to avoid reaching past the bedframe dividing him from Vessel. He desperately attempts to avoid why he feels like the space between them is a barrier he isn’t allowed to cross without permission, when a few days ago he wouldn’t have thought twice about sitting down beside Vessel, no matter the questionable state of his sheets. “Ves, are you implying that you think you were bitched by a dream?” It sounds even more ridiculous out loud. “No,” Vessel denies, shifting in a way that makes his sheets drag eye-catchingly across the sweat pearling on his defined waist. He laughs without humor when he says, “I think it was more like I was bitched by a god.” When divine intervention causes what is supposed to be the first night of Vessel's rut to become the start of his first ever heat, II is determined to give his boyfriend everything he needs. He only fears that, as a beta, he won't be able to deliver. The universe finds fit to give him a means to rise to the occasion.
