Fics like Golden rays

Golden scaled mer are a mystery among the ocean. Their beauty and unknown abilities are a draw to anyone looking to show off their own worth. But what happens when taking a golden scale as a mate becomes a show of power and not care? What happens when they simply become a prize to be won and shown around? Eclipse is the next in line to lead his father's pod. A pod made of mer who had nowhere else to go. Oddities, misfits, abandoned, or simply just those who were kind and strong and wanted to join. What would be three more strange mer in their ranks?
