Fics like Pinprick Urges.
It wasn’t fear. Kris had never been afraid of storms, or rain; in fact, they’d always been a pretty quiet kid, all things considered. It wasn’t the rain or thunder that rolled a haze over their mind, a darkness settling coldly at the edges, sharp and unwelcome. No, it was the feelings that came with the storms; the reminders, the memories, the echoes of pain that weighed down their shoulders and landed like bruises upon their mind. They couldn’t even remember, and that was the worst part. It was just a haze of emotions, familiar yet so distant. Something that happened to them, but didn’t; something they couldn’t grasp, weren’t able to conceptualize. It happened, but it wasn’t there, but they felt it.
