Fics like take care of you

“Don’t expect me to just warm up to you immediately just because you’re a famous baseball player.” You push your glass away from yourself. “Can’t you mingle with other people of your league, instead of being here with me?” “I was—it’s just…” From the corner of your eye, you see him bite his lip. “It’s hard for me to connect with people… and I saw you here, and I just—” You face him fully now, brows furrowed. Ken looks like he has a lot to say, but he holds it back, sighing as he runs his fingers through his hair. Maybe you’re being a little too rough on him on your first meeting, but that’s because you didn’t expect to see Ken Sato here. “It’s a little hard adjusting to being back in Japan again, but…” He looks at you with a soft smile, your heart rate picking up a little. “It’s just really good to see a familiar face again.” The last time you talked to Ken Sato was 14 years ago, when the both of you were entering your teenage years. What do you do when you see his face plastered on every TV screen in Tokyo, and what do you do when he tries to reconnect despite being the one who pulled away first?
