Fics like a bouquet of sage and sunflower

It doesn’t make sense. There is no logical reason for Florinia’s computational abilities to fail when in proximity to Julia; for her mind to stutter and overheat at the sight of Julia’s arms, or the sound of her voice, or the way her face lights up when she’s happy. For mere physical expressions of emotion—- the very thing Florinia excised from herself year prior— to elicit such a response is unthinkable. And yet, Florinia cannot stop thinking. She thinks of Julia’s hair, green as a sprawling meadow, green as the sticky-sweet soda pop she drinks by the liter, green as insulated wiring. She thinks of Julia’s skin, flush and tacky with sweat, dotted with freckles and blemishes, the myriad of imperfections formed from electrical burns and callouses, the muscles bulging beneath from her days as a cheerleader. She thinks of her voice, a livewire hanging between them, sparking dangerously, intoxicatingly, Rini, Rini, Rini — Florinia blinks. Her face is flush beneath her clammy fingertips. What is happening to her? (Florinia Sevilla struggles, as she always has, with coming to terms with her feelings surrounding her closest friend.)
