Paul had heard about it from Tara. And Tara had heard it from Groovy Bob, and he had heard it from one of his other artsy friends. Apparently John had been fooling around with men. Paul didn’t buy it. Not really. It was just too out of character, too absurd to be true. The thought of it—John with another man—it was ridiculous, wasn’t it? -- Rumours were going around about John—and Paul just needed him to say they weren’t true. He hadn't expected them to be. It never made the papers. But things spiralled, all the same—just between them. And Paul wasn’t sure whether he could handle it all.
