Fics like crucem.
“Did I ever tell you,” Sua whispers, “the one about the girl who loved a ghost?” She brushes Mizi’s cheekbone with the backs of her fingers, water trailing in their wake. “She wasn’t dead yet, but it didn’t matter. Every time she touched the girl she loved, a little more of her disappeared.” Mizi’s throat closes up. “Don’t—don’t say that.” crucem /ˈkruː.kɛm/ (n.) Latin for "the cross"; used poetically to evoke sacrifice, burden, or martyrdom—bearing pain for the sake of love, faith, or duty.
