Fics like No Place for Strays

What if Daryl shot the walker Rick was holding in Season 2, Episode 7: Pretty Much Dead Already—and Rick stepped in to stop Shane from opening the barn? What if Shane shoved Rick… and Daryl stepped in? This is a canon-divergent retelling of the fallout at Hershel’s farm. A broken rib, a busted lip, and a whole mess of consequences later, Daryl finds himself surrounded by people who won’t let him push them away—not even when he tries. Especially not Rick. He never thought he was worth saving. Turns out, he doesn’t get a vote. I didn’t mean to start a possible slow-burn Rick/Daryl series… but apparently they did, and who am I to argue?
