Fics like We Hug Now

(FEARLESS SPOILERS!!!) Kitt was never supposed to forget how to laugh. But Ellie can feel it happening—like thread slipping through her fingers, unraveling one quiet day at a time. The boy who once danced barefoot in the rain and whispered dreams into her hair is vanishing beneath the weight of the crown, of duty, of grief. He’s slipping. And she’s running out of time to find him beneath the steel. When the door finally opens, it’s already too late. Ellie is left with blood on her hands, silence in her lungs, and the memory of a love that should have been theirs forever. Grief consumes her like a tide—unrelenting, hollow, echoing through every empty room. She carries it for years, whispering to ghosts, unraveling in the shadow of what they were… and what they were supposed to be. This is a story about the love that outlives the body. About the ache of almosts. About how it feels to stay behind—and what it means to find your way back.
