Fics like home with you

The force of the knife sends Kris skidding onto their knees. They’ve been hit before. Hell, they’ve been downed before, countless times within Dark Worlds, but they’ve never felt a pain as strange as the kind the Roaring Knight inflicts. Like a wound forming inside-out. Wordlessly, Ralsei and Susie each take one of their hands and pull them to their feet. It’s the small, but instinctual gesture of care from the both of them that makes something warm and saccharine swell in Kris’ chest. The three of them look out for one another without even having to think about it first. Or, in pursuit of the Roaring Knight, Kris considers the Mortifying Ordeal of Being Known.
