Fics like Friday Night

"The universe has a cruel sense of humor. It pulls us together–two boys orbiting each other like doomed constellations–only to laugh as the world burns between us. Maybe fate whispered his name in my ear the first time I saw him: Blaze Carter. He's the splinter under my skin-the one I can't dig out. The scholarship kid with a mouth too loud for his own good, who challenges me in debates, on the basketball court, in the goddamn cafeteria line like he doesn't know who my family is. Like he doesn't care. And that's the problem. I was raised to calculate every variable: trust fund percentages media scandals, the way people's eyes flicker when they say 'Ice', But him? He's chaos. Unreadable. Infuriating. We were never supposed to be anything but rivals. Detention partners. Names spat across locker-lined hallways. Yet here we are, tangled in something deeper, something neither of us can name. But the universe doesn't care about stolen glances in empty classrooms or the way his smirk softens when no one's watching. It only cares about the rules: rich and poor, legacy and nobody, his family and mine. So why do I keep hoping?"
