Fics like in all things, balance

Luo’s laughter carries over the ringing in her ears as she flips over onto her back and huffs a frizzy stand of hair out of her face. She’s got grass stains on her shirt, on her shorts, and probably on her teeth at this point. Dirt in her hair and under her nails from scrabbling for purchase while doing a very unfortunately-timed split. The roller skates, at least, have been thoroughly broken in, and the blisters on her heels will heal in a few days. And of course Luo’s totally unscathed. He learned how to skate ages ago, according to him. It feels like he’s cheating somehow — like for once his bad luck is outpacing her own freakishly good fortune. Cyan doesn’t think she’s ever been this happy in her life.
