Fics like the big before

No one held a bigger piece of his heart than Erwin Smith. Levi might as well have given him the entire thing. There was nothing Levi could say to make him stay behind, to keep him safe and alive so Levi could come home to him at the end of the day. Erwin was a stubborn man of his own mind—no one and nothing could ever hope to sway his convictions. And it seemed Erwin was resolved to kill himself and take Levi’s heart with him. Levi had a choice here: ignore Erwin for the evening and have their last private moment together be a bitter argument, or go to him and spend one last night with him. It wasn’t a difficult decision. OR Levi and Erwin say goodbye on the night before the return to Shiganshina and yearn for what could have been.
