Fics like i hear the ocean from far away

And while Jungkook missed the ocean and other mers more than anything, it was always with a bitter smile that he prayed he would never see one. Because seeing another of his people meant that they would be torn from everything and everyone they knew and be subjected to a life like his. A life that Jungkook didn't end simply because he knew what the consequences of failing were. The day Jungkook met another mer, his heart broke in a way that he didn't know was possible. (Or, mer Jungkook was taken from the ocean when he was only a child, living most of his life in captivity, hopeless and alone. The arrival of another captive mer named Jimin changes everything.)
