In Seattle, 1993, feminist artist Helen Fields found an odd friend in Frasier Crane, and he in her. Then it gets complicated. They're so wrong for each other. Aren't they? And anyway, Helen has a boyfriend. Doesn't she? The friendship begins as a year of gallery receptions, wine tastings, and increasingly elaborate dinner parties becomes something else entirely: a steady ache of want, a relationship shaped by longing, and the slow, devastating realization that they might be in love. They are but three bottles of champagne and one duet away from a night that shatters their pantomime of platonic friendship.
