Rina had no real friends, and Buck wanted better for her, and he knew that as ridiculous as it might feel, her figuring out her own style would help with that. She’d spent years wearing what her parents wanted her to, trying to earn the love they’d never really give her. Now she had a chance to be herself, fully and unapologetically and Buck knew she hadn’t fully figured out what that meant yet. So Buck had decided that he needed to find someone who could empathize with Rina and help her. Which meant a woman. Hen, Karen, Athena and Maddie were all too old to be the sort of guide that he knew she needed. May Grant however, sixteen going on seventeen, bright and confident as she was? Buck had decided she would be an excellent guide in all things teenage girl. So he’d talked to Athena first, the woman giving him a fond look in response and telling him that he was a good parents and that if May said yes then of course he could take the girls to the mall as long as he was paying.
