Fics like Moth to a flame

Hwang In-ho was born into slavery in Joseon. After his parents were murdered, young In-ho escapes to the United States with the help of a missionary man, grows up in New York and becomes a Marine Corps officer. Decades later, he returns to his homeland with the mission of eliminating a traitor who was selling valuable information to Japan. Two snipers, one target, and a mutual obsession neither of them was prepared for - In-ho meets a member of the Righteous Army, a young man from a poor family who uses his forced social status to gain valuable information for his people. Fascinated by his struggles and ideals, In-ho finds it impossible to leave Joseon until he learns more about Gi-hun - and that, needless to say, was the beginning of his end.
