Fics like The Future Below

Waking up in a mysterious world, in a form that isn't your own, is bad. When that world turns out to be a post-apocalyptic dream-hellscape? Worse. Or is it? Through unknown means, our human—now a Darkrai—is trapped in a place where time loops, space warps, and nightmares are not discernible with reality. This crumbling world could not happen by chance, could it? In the midst of all this, they meet a fiery Armarouge—an unlikely ally with bold instincts and a bolder heart. Forced into a reluctant partnership to survive, they begin a quiet search for answers... and maybe something more. But slowly, other plans creep into their mind. Will they act on it? (Can be read without knowledge of the PMD series.) (Extra work notes can be found in the beginning notes.)
