Fics like Seaglass

“I hear you’re cursed,” Poseidon says, and Odysseus is relieved that he didn’t have to be the one to start this conversation. “I am,” he supplies with a nod. “And what kind of curse did the titaness manage to wrap you up in?” He sounds bored. He probably is, but any good head of house would make sure his new prisoner isn’t spreading something that’s contagious. Odysseus steels himself. “It’s a punishment for avoiding sex,” he explains, miraculously concise. “What?” The room shakes. --- In which Polyphemus doesn't fall in front of the cave entrance, and thus Odysseus doesn't have to blind him. He never evokes Poseidon's ire. Odysseus still has the worst luck in all of ancient Greece, however, and winds up on Ogygia for six years anyway. So, when the king of Ithaca is injured falling through Charybdis' teeth, Poseidon has no reason not to assist. Zeus' gentle persuasion helps, too.
