Fics like How to Fall for the Trap

“Uh… um. Me? Oh that’s, hah. That’s-” they stumble over their words, voice only going higher in panic. Clown simply crouches down in front of them, leaning into their space. It’s hilarious how quickly they pull back, jamming themselves into a corner. And now that he’s closer, and his eyes have adjusted to the dark, he can make out a familiar purple and black suit. Gloves with hearts running up them. But most damning of all, white hair. This is Carnival. A villain known for collecting debts like they’re trinkets. For selling information to the highest bidder. For coveting the ability to bring people back from beyond the dead. The very same person Clown has tried to challenge before, and failed. This is him. “You can’t be Carnival. You’re so… weak” he says. Or, the one in which Clown is both a vigilante and an assassin, Branzy is a villain and the most valuable informant in the city, and both of them are trapped in a room together by a common enemy
