Fics like Killer's Choice

“Hello my darling tool, did you miss me?” for as saccharine as Nightmare’s tone was, there was no genuine affection accompanying the demeaning pet name. His words were sharp and dangerous. They slashed Killer’s soul open, baring the longing he’d been repressing for the mistreatment he’d grown accustomed to over the years of servitude under the wannabe-King. Ever since Color gave him the courage to run away and reach for something nicer, he sometimes wondered if that attachment he had to his past and that he could never seem to shed was an indication that he’d made the wrong call. If he was as happy with the outcome of his first real decision in ages as he should have been, then wouldn’t he have been as free of doubts as he’d been back when working side by side with Chara? How did it make any sense that being brainwashed into being somebody’s perfect toy wasn’t a role he felt the need to reconsider, even seldom, but trying to be his own person was? Maybe that was a hint from the universe that he was only fit to be a deadly weapon in ruthless hands. - or, Killer is stuck between a painful but familiar past and a hopeful but uncertain future. What will he pick?
