Fics like What They Would Have Wanted

Six months ago, Halt found a way to save his apprentice. Six months ago, Halt committed treason and was banished from Araluen. Last week, Caitlyn O'Carrick died. Halt is still in Scandia and doesn't know. Gilan is in Araluen and reads about it in a report. A deeper look into the aftermath of Halt's decision in Icebound Land, particularly how it affected Gilan. Also, the story of how Gilan ended up attending Caitlyn's funeral and how Halt reacted to the news of Caitlyn's death. Meant as a companion to "Halt, Here Comes the King", but can be read alone.
