Fics like ‘Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in New York anymore’

It was dark, neon lights casting a dim light on the alley and were reflected in the puddles of water. Trash was littered around, spilling out of over-full trash cans and bins. The smell was that of a typical alley– smoke, alcohol and piss. The reason Peter knew for a fact that this was not New York, was not just because he realised he didn’t recognise the alley. It hadn’t rained in New York in weeks– the concrete here was freshly soaked. He slowly got to his feet, shaking all the way up. Tilting his head to the sky, Peter groaned, realising he needed to climb a long way to get a perch from where he could get some visual clues to where he was. Neon lights flashed, lighting the buildings. The higher Peter climbed, the more the feeling of confusion set it. He didn’t recognise any of the brands, any of the signs in the city. The architecture was like nothing Peter had ever seen. Old and gothic architecture mixed in with modern buildings. Solid stone, gargoyles and stained glass but there were tall skyscrapers and modern architecture around every corner. “For fucks–.” Peter groaned as he sat on the ledge of the building and leaned on his knees. “Where the fuck am I?!”
