Fics like Lost in the Stars

In the twilight of their careers, and desperate to extend them however possible, the Chipmunks and Chipettes reluctantly agree to a deal with NASA to man a mission to the planet Mars. What they hope for is an increase in popularity; a reason for people to cheer for them again. There is no way for any of them to predict the complications, lies, secrets, and threats that they will encounter before they can safely return home. In order to find themselves on the other side of this ordeal with their lives, they will need to tap into every ounce of brains, brawn, and hope that they can conjure. "The Martians persisted in taunting me with their eerie guttural noises. Projecting them as if shouting at each other from cave to cave, across the mountain. An unsettling, consistent, drumming background noise. At times, they sounded distant, with faded echoes that barely reached me. At other times, their calls - their yips, howls, hisses, and barks - felt both loud and clear as day."
