Fics like whatever a moon has always meant, and whatever a sun will always sing

Xie Lian is getting married to his ghost, which is fine, it's whatever - or it would be if it didn't make Mu Qing keep thinking about a certain person--things! Just random things! Sometimes there’ll be a quality to the light in the mortal realm or a scent and he’s back there, like he never left: the cramped space beneath the window, the unraveling knit of a homespun blanket, a thumb pressing, light, at the pulse in his throat. Like that he’s back to being suddenly seventeen, the stupidest age imaginable. And he can prove, in short order, why that’s true. But he doesn’t go there; he stops at threshold, draws the door firmly shut over the last full evening of his mortal life. Only it’s been harder to do that lately, and he’s been catching glimpses of it in the tail of his mind’s eye. The bead of water at the corner of Feng Xin's lip, licked slowly away. The long, heavy-lidded stare... What's that you say? You want to read nearly 75k of Mu Qing Going Through It? Well, boy howdy, have I got great news for you... This fic is finished. All chapters will be posted by 2/15.
