Fics like Free falling (Don't let me go)

When Thomas first started leaving the medics-hut, people had been cautiously eyeing his every move, expecting- almost waiting- for the boy to fall apart under the weight of his past. Seeing him so engaged in the goings of the island settled their worries, a subconsciously agreed upon stamp of approval having everyone moving on from monitoring him soon enough. Gally didn’t know when he started becoming so attune with Thomas' emotional- or lack thereof- state, but he did know dissociation when he saw it. He had been keeping an eye on him ever since they arrived at Safe Haven. It wasn’t like he was trying particularly hard to see him, it was just that Thomas seemed to stick out of a crowd like a wine-stain on a greyscale map; effortlessly bleeding into Gally's peripheral and pulling his attention wherever he went. Watching him for so long, Gally knew that Thomas hadn’t taken a single moment to properly acknowledge, let alone process, any of the horrors he had faced mere days before pulling out of the unconscious state he arrived at safety in. Or: Thomas breaks after 3 years of avoiding his past; Gally picks up the pieces.
