Fics like your eyes, they shine so bright (i wanna save their light)

"I'd like us to be…" Bruce trails off, unsure of how to finish the sentence, unsure of what he even dares to ask for. "Partners?" Clark suggests, his voice gentle as he brushes aside the hair falling across Bruce's forehead, making him feel all the more exposed. Bruce's faint frown is unintentional, not the response he means to give. Clark hums thoughtfully, tilting his head. "Lovers? Boyfriends? Husbands?" He tries again, and this time, his smile grows—just a fraction, but enough. (Or, Bruce and Clark are still figuring out their relationship when Clark is hit by a kryptonite bullet. As Bruce watches Clark bleed out, his past comes back to haunt him. Fortunately, Lois Lane is a great friend, and Alfred is a good parent.)
