Fics like Love and the Tradition of Cardmaking

Twelve-year-old Colin Bridgerton wants nothing more than to buy some pink roses, eat a chocolate donut, and make cards with his family on Valentine’s Day. But that tradition only exists in the past, a bittersweet reminder of his father’s untimely death six months ago. In his struggle to process his grief and accept a new normal, he makes a vow to his sister’s friend, Penelope Featherington, promising that he will always be her date on February the 14th. And while he barely knows the girl, Colin always keeps his promises. OR Six years where Colin and Penelope spend Valentine’s Day together, experiencing just a handful of the myriad ways in which people express love, coming to understand how the love we receive impacts the love we think we can give.
