“I was thinking,” Amanda started, stretching her legs out in front of her, pretending like this was just any other conversation, “What if we went on a road trip?” Silence. Then Angela let out a small, disbelieving laugh. “A road trip?” “Yeah.” “At—” Angela paused, and Amanda could picture her squinting at the clock on her nightstand, “—almost midnight? Are you crazy?” “Not right now,” Amanda clarified, rolling onto her side, resting her head on her arm. “But soon. Like… tomorrow. Just pack a bag and go. No plans, no destination, just—drive.” Or Amanda is having a crisis—a divorce crisis. Angela doesn’t know what she’s getting herself into. Jobs? Responsibilities? What are those? (gets fixed by going on a road trip... apparently.)
