Fics like Crack Baby

“What’s going on?” An exhale. “Nothing, darling. Go back to bed.” Alex rests his hand on the handle again, but doesn’t push. Head tilted, ear against the door. His body knows something he doesn’t, knows that something is very wrong. That’s why he is beginning to tremble, that must be why. “No, not until you come out.” Again, nothing. Not a single sound, no sob, no groan; it scares him. And suddenly he doesn’t just want in, he needs in. Because Henry had been acting strange, because he knows that he’s hiding something, more than he’s willing to let on. “Henry—“ The door creaks open, just slightly. Enough for Henry to slip out and face him. He looks… fine, almost as if nothing had happened. As if Alex hadn’t just been begging him to open up, as if he hadn’t pushed him away. No sniffles or red, puffy eyes. Not a sound coming from him. Yeah, he seems fine; except for the sheer panic etched onto his face. Expression puzzled, Alex tries to step close but catches sight of the mess of tissues behind Henry, on the bathroom floor. Red tissue against white, cold bathroom tiles. Childhood habits.
