Fics like Children of the North, Soldiers of the South

In 1917, three Indigenous brothers escape the horrors of a residential school in Alaska, fleeing south until they reach an unfamiliar land: Mexico. There, they find solace and freedom in a country torn by revolution. For nearly a decade, they live in peace—until 1926, when a new war begins. As the Cristero War rages, the brothers are confronted with a painful irony: the same Church that once brutalized them is now the victim of state-sanctioned violence. But in war, innocence is lost, and blood is spilled on all sides. Caught between their past traumas and the injustice unfolding before them, Sitka, Denahi, and Kenai must decide where they stand—and what they are willing to fight for.
