After Hayley and two-year-old Hope left New Orleans to find cures for the Mikaelsons, she searched all over for the descendants of the seven original werewolf bloodlines. After four years, she had only obtained two out of the seven necessary vials of werewolf venom. That's when she ran into Caroline Forbes in Oregon. Hayley was there searching for a descendant of a long-disbanded pack. Caroline was searching for a way to keep her daughters from performing The Merge. They struck a deal: they would keep their eyes and ears open for the other. If one of them found a lead, they would call. But one day, Caroline realized it had been months since she heard from Hayley. After many missed calls and a missed meet-up, Caroline went searching for Hayley and Hope, only to find the two gone, leaving behind a home in disarray and the Mikaelsons tucked away in their coffins. With Hayley and Hope nowhere to be found, Caroline picked up the mantle to save the Mikaelsons. After all, if anyone would have knowledge about the Merge and be able to help her find Hope, it would be the Mikaelsons. (This was partially inspired by Such is Our Fate by TheDarkestHour13)
