Fics like ¿Dónde Está el Sol? (Where is the Sun?)

It's been seven years since Barba walked away from being an ADA and Olivia Benson. He skied a lot, gained weight, lost weight and settled comfortably into middle age working for a reputable firm on a partner track with a corner office. Life wasn't interesting but it was good. He could afford to buy Mami that condo in Little Havana where she was surrounded by family and friends. He could pick and choose his cases, so there were no more Richard Wheatleys - just rich men who did stupid things. Being pressed into service to go to an awards banquet pissed him off but being on the partner track requires a certain amount of sucking up, so he went. He expected to eat bad food, drink cheap scotch and be bored out of his skull. He never expected that he would become a hero.
