Severus Snape didn’t often cover potions in class that he genuinely believed the students couldn’t brew, but there is one that he always makes his OWL students brew purely for the chaos of it. None of the ingredients were all that expensive or explosive, so it was the perfect way to keep the students on their toes. Until the year someone actually succeeded and there were…consequences. Or; the Potions Disaster of 1996, in which Harry gets a little too pissed off and a little too honest.
