Fics like "Some Of Us Aren't Born for Battle"

"If you trust me, please believe me when I say that you are definitely the kind of hero this world is gonna need someday. We just need to find exactly where you fit on this team. Some of us aren’t born for battle, but we’re all born with a purpose.” These are the words Steve Rogers shares to encourage Joseph Pelletan, as he searches for his purpose in an ever-changing world. Joseph's story begins at five years old, when he is given a gift that first slows his aging; starts healing his body of its four significant impairments; and begins to grant him special powers and abilities, all over the course of many, many years. In 2008, Joseph saves Tony Stark's life in Afghanistan; meets Phil Coulson; and begins the adventure of a lifetime. He starts as simply a friend, before becoming a "consultant" for SHIELD, an unofficial Avenger, and eventually, a superhero.
