Fics like Grant Us Eyes

The last words Sirius Black heard from Remus Lupin still echo in his mind, a mixture of a plea and a curse: “Leave. I never want to see you again.” Looking back, there’s a grim humor to it, but at the time, those words had hit as hard as any curse his mother ever cast. Fate had a way of gripping Sirius tightly, and he doubted she would have released him even if Remus had taken it all back. The Marauders had turned their backs on him as they should in the face of what he’d done, and then he was left with nothing but the emptiness that followed. Remus had gotten his wish. It’s been fifteen years since Sirius last saw Hogwarts and twelve since he crossed paths with Regulus, who wouldn’t have known it was him who dragged him out of that lake. But Fate and Death have finally struck a truce with the Mother’s nod of righteous approval, and Sirius is back, this time with a purpose: a hunt that’s long overdue.
