Fics like Understanding You

“Look, I didn't like the guy when… you know. But I felt,” Hajime struggles, “he was dangerous, and frustrating, but it felt like I- we could have gotten to understanding him if we’d had more time.” - “They trust the ones that betrayed them just like that?” Nagito says and there’s longing in his words and on his face for a split second before he ducks his head. “How stupid.” Hajime can picture Chiaki as if she’s sitting here with him, says without thinking, “it’s not stupid, it’s choosing to love someone anyway.” - Post-canon coming to terms with the past and find a way to understand each other.
